Taiwo Aloba and African Theater Inc. at the New York African Film Festival 2024.

On Thursday, May 2nd, The African Center became a vibrant hub of dialogue and creativity as the 31st New York African Film Festival hosted its anticipated Town Hall discussion: "Art+Activism: Experimental Motions." It was a fantastic kick-off to #NYAFF31.

I was honored to be among the esteemed panelists, bringing their unique perspectives. I was doubly honored to present a theatrical clip and live performance by Cameroonian Actress Estelle Bikibili of an excerpt from my play, β€œThe Sea.”

As the founder of African Theater Inc. and a Nigerian Dramatist, I know that the intersection of art and activism isn't just a theoretical concept; it's a lived reality woven into the fabric of my creative journey. With a career dedicated to harnessing the power of drama and performance as a vehicle for social change, my presence on the panel ignited a thought-provoking discussion.

Presented by the African Film Festival, this event stands as a testament to the transformative potential of art when coupled with a spirit of activism.

Thank you to the African Film Festival for the honor and my fellow panelist and excellent moderator for an insightful conversation.

Together, we embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery, where art paves the way for meaningful change.

Join the African Film Festival for more upcoming events during #NYAFF31.
