Raised in Lagos, Taiwo Aloba is an award-winning multi-hyphenate artist and cultural consultant based in New York.
An African dramatist and historian, she is the founder of African Theater Inc., a play production company committed to telling authentic African stories. Notable productions include “Oshundare and Ayaba” (Rogue Theatre Festival), “The Gospel of Efunroye” (Chain Theatre), “Baki Fari” (Chain Theatre), “The Gospel of Efunroye” (Soho Playhouse), “The Fourth Alaafin of Oyo” (New York Theatre Festival), “1983” (Chain Theatre), “Adunni” (Chain Theatre), “Our Father” (Brick Theatre), “Jaja” (New York Theater Festival), “A Very Nigerian Dream” (Chain Theatre), “The Sea” (International Human Rights Art Festival), “Shadow of War” (Chain Theatre), “The Merchant of Curamo” (New York Theater Festival), and “Faith of Valeria” (The Secret Theatre). Her books “Orange,” “Surulere, Lagos,” and “Nigerian Daughter” are available on Amazon. She is an alumna of Lagos State University (BA, Theatre Arts and Music), New York Film Academy (Musical Theatre), and Southern New Hampshire University (MFA, Creative Writing and English). She writes plays on various subjects, frequently about cultural responsibility and the struggle between individual will and the common good. She has styled nearly twenty music videos and ran a marathon in Coney Island.
She is available for representation and freelance projects: her professional skills lie in performance art, art directing, copywriting, content creation, theater direction, and production.
